Most people know the Hesperia Chamber of Commerce as an organization that helps its member businesses succeed. But on Saturday, June 23, a group of 30 Chamber volunteers did their share to brighten up everything in their path.

Armed with reflective vests, bags, gloves and signs supplied by the City of Hesperia, the caring corps broke into four teams and blanketed the Albertsons/Kmart shopping center.

"We covered a lot of ground in an hour," said Hesperia Chamber Executive Director Yvonne Woytovich, who organized the cleanup. "I can't believe the great turnout we had."

In fact, the volunteer effort was so enthusiastic, that teams expanded their endeavors beyond the original cleanup border of C Avenue and Main Street. One crew worked its way up the south side of Main while another collected trash in near the Little Country Church property.

"Isn't that awesome?" Woytovich said.

Afterward, the volunteers were treated to tasty refreshments courtesy of Springhill Suites.

"I told them the more people we get out here the less hard we all have to work," she said.

And the more beautiful our town becomes.
