Superintendent salary
It is beyond understanding how Mr. Bentley can compare the job demands and salaries of a U.S. Marine Colonel to that of a school superintendent. There is no comparison. To all soldiers, no matter their rank, thank you.

Obviously Mr. Bentley has no idea of what it takes to run a school district. There is not one administrator, in the Hesperia School District, who doesn't put a ten-hour day. On top of this, they attend board meetings at least twice a month, which usually exceed six hours. Mr. Bentley failed to mention the after school activities that require their presence. Let us not forget, that administrators are on call 24/7, to handle board members concerns and district emergencies. Mr. Bentley must have forgotten how the district staff went above and beyond, helping the citizens of Hesperia, during the firestorm a few years ago. He failed to mention the Kiwanis and Rotary commitments administrators have volunteered for. He failed to mention the weekend cleanup of multiple classrooms that had water pipes burst due to frigid temperatures. Lastly, he failed to mention the demands, consequences and lack of funding of the No Child Left Behind Act.

As for Superintendent Richardson, he is well compensated for the huge demands of his job and for a job well done. He supports teachers and administrators and is dedicated to putting the needs of the students first. To him, I say thank you.

I have seen and heard Mr. Bentley's rants at school board meetings. Four years in the service would do him wonders.

I am proud to be a teacher in the Hesperia Unified School District.
