A stolen car was recovered Wednesday morning thanks to the woman driving it not wearing her seatbelt.

Jordan Lake, 30, of Hesperia, was pulled over Wednesday morning near the intersection of Seaforth Street and Arrowhead Lake Road when San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy Lisa Guerra spotted Lake apparently not wearing her seatbelt.

During the traffic stop, Guerra identified Lake's passenger as Kelly Cook, 34, of Barstow, a parolee at large. A records check of the vehicle Lake was driving revealed the plate number did not match the vehicle. The car was then searched and three additional license plates were located beneath the seat. The vehicle was identified as having been stolen from Highland early Wednesday morning.

Lake was arrested for possession of stolen property. Cook was arrested on the same charge and placed on a parole hold. Both were booked into Victor Valley Jail.
