For the second year in a row, Hesperians will fight crime Tuesday night by drinking, dancing, eating and getting to know their neighbors better.

As part of National Night Out, four Hesperia neighborhoods will spend their time outside in the summer evening air instead of indoors.

The program is intended to let residents get to know who's who in their neighborhood and be a way of showing solidarity in the face of crime in their community.

The neighborhoods participating this year include the Regency Apartments at 8522 C Avenue, Santa Fe Apartments at 16576 Sultana Street, the neighborhood around Live Oak Street and Timberlane Avenue and the neighborhood around Chase Street and E Avenue.

The neighborhood events are scheduled to run from 6:30 to 8:30.

Nationally, the program is organized by the National Association of Town Watch and sponsored by Target stores.

Locally, Hesperia's National Night Out is organized by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and sponsored by local businesses.
