The new HesperiaStar.com has seen traffic grow more than 7 percent in the three months since it came online.

The new Web site went online in mid-March, as part of a company-wide rollout of new sites for Freedom Communications' newspapers, radio and TV stations.

In April 2007, the first full month for the new site, visitors read a total of 42,267 pages. By July, page views had gone up to 45,257.

The latest version of the site wasn't the first facelift HesperiaStar.com had received: Last October, users began to be able to leave comments on individual stories and new stories were added most weekdays. These innovations continue with the new site, with most stories in Tuesday's paper appearing several days prior online, often with breaking news and updates to existing stories.

The newest HesperiaStar.com also includes polls, real-time traffic and weather information and will soon begin to feature video of news stories and local events. Later this year, look for more upgrades to the site, designed to make HesperiaStar.com the natural home page of every resident.
