Good evening Board and Cabinet Members. My name is Katie Keyes and I am ASB President of Sultana High School. It will be my pleasure to report to you for the 07-08 school year.

On Aug 7th, prior to the beginning of the school year, we held a freshmen orientation - more than 350 freshmen attended. This orientation was hosted by our Link Crew, which is made up of juniors and seniors. The orientation gave the freshman a head start by allowing them to get their schedules, text books, and a tour of our campus. What a fantastic way to welcome the class or 2011, everyone had a blast!

On Aug 9th, we held our open house where any freshman who didn't attend orientation and all other students were able to pick up their class schedule, books and purchase P.E clothes, ASB cards and Yearbooks.

As you know, on Aug 13th, the school year began. Although students are still enrolling, as of Friday, our current enrollment is 2834 students.

This past Friday, the freshmen were introduced to their first Sultana assembly. This gave them the opportunity to hear form Counselors, Vice Principles and the directors of Athletics and Activities. They were very well behaved group.

That brings us up to this point in time, if you didn't already know; tomorrow is the official day that Hawaii became a state. In celebration of this day, we are dressing up in Hawaiian attire. This day should help bring a smile to everyone's face.

Speaking of smiles, hopefully everyone brings their best smile to school on Aug 23rd and 24th. This is when we will be taking our school pictures. Student ID cards as well as Renaissance cards will be distributed.

Back to School Night will be held on Aug 30th. This will give parents a chance to see their child's classes as well as meet their teachers.

As you know, our athletic season is kicking off. Volleyball and Tennis both get started on Sept 6th - Volleyball against Granite Hills and Tennis in a tournament. Our first football game will be held against Palm desert on Sept 7th. Although we never come in last, lastly, I'm glad to say that I'm part of the CC team to run against Barstow on Sept 19th.
ASB classes from all around will be traveling to Big Bear for our annual ASB camp held on Sept 8th and 9th. We will be expecting nearly 400 students. At camp this year I am looking forward to making this camping experience memorable.

In conclusion, our ASB class is currently brainstorming ideas to help recognize and reward our students for their recent achievements on the increase of our API score. Unofficially, we raised 34 points with a total of 704. Sultana is keeping our eyes on the prize.

I look forward to seeing you next month with a plethora of homecoming details.
Thank you and have a great night. ?
