A Hesperia man spent three hours trapped in his vehicle after a collision, despite nearby residents hearing the sound of the crash.

Mercy Air flew Rene Avila Castro, 35, to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday. Castro had crashed his vehicle through a fence near the intersection of Hickory Avenue and Sultana Street into some bushes at about 3 a.m., according to witnesses who had heard the sound of the collision, but no one called in the accident until shortly before 6, when a resident looking out a window saw the crash.

Castro was treated for multiple injuries at the hospital.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department representatives are investigating to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision.
