Good Evening Board Members, administrators, staff and guests. With one month down, Hesperia High School is currently half way through the first quarter.

After the stress of waking up early and settling down, Scorpion Country is on track to have one amazing year! Starting off the school year was a myriad of events both informational and electrifying. Our Senior Grad Fair and Parent night went very smoothly and provided parents and students with tools to help them throughout the year. During the next few weeks seniors are being called in for their first round of Grad Checks! Counselors are making sure that every senior is on track to graduate and to help them begin the process of applying to college. After their counselor visit, all seniors visit the Career Center to talk about colleges, careers, military, testing and scholarships, all the fun stuff that our seniors should be working on. Something new this year is our Scorpions career and college resource center. As always, the help is still the same but they now have 32 new computer stations to help the large number of students we have due to growth. Especially for seniors as these next few months are going to be a wild ride! The next two months will also see numerous college speakers along with college application workshops.

And speaking of building changes, our new Science Center has been coming together. All our students enjoyed seeing to come together week after week. This week is a big week for the Scorpion Science Complex as we are scheduled to have 12 modulars appear via crane. So yes, science is ever changing our world.
This next month ASB Leadership has numerous activities planned for students. Last week Homecoming Court Nominations were held and this week we vote for court. We have over 30 young ladies hoping to represent their class on court. The week of the 17th begins our infamous Homecoming Sprit Week. The "Safari Sensation" themed week includes dress up days like favorite animal print clothes and crazy hair day as well as lunchtime activities like Bobbing for Mangos and Animal Yells. The week concludes with our Pep Rally on Friday that is sure to get everyone pumped up for that very special night. The night that I am talking about is of course our Homecoming Football game verses Pacific. Over the past few weeks all of the classes have been working diligently on their floats and are anxious to show them off, but only one can take first place. The ever-popular halftime show will commence and act as the platform for the crowing of our homecoming queen! I hope to see you all there!

Last weekend we attended an ASB Leadership camp hosted by our friends at Sultana High School. A special shout out to Mr. Clark from Sultana for all his hard work on making a memorable camp where we learned new ideas for activities, team building and leadership. Of course, our highlight was our own performance by our class of the Evolution of Dance.

Over the past few years a small group of students were called together to root for their Scorpion Athletes, they were aptly named the Scorpion Squad. This year however, the once small group has ballooned to over 200 members! The entire purpose of this club is to show our support and gratitude for our athletes. Students from all backgrounds are invited to join in; if they decide to join they are given a t-shirt like the one I am wearing. At all games the club sits together in a special reserved section in order to make their presence known. During the school year the Squad has planned tailgate parties and events that correspond with home games! Speaking of which, the Scorpion Squad is taking a "rooter" bus down to Perris next week to cheer on our Varsity Football team.

On that note, were now on to the wonderful world of Scorpion Sports! Last week our Lady Scorpion Tennis team held a scrimmage against Granite Hills, I am happy to report that they brought home a win of 9-7! X-Country continues to work out each day in our desert heat so I am sure you'll hear about their successful season in my future reports. Our Varsity Volleyball team also been holding scrimmages over the past few weeks, even though they do not keep score I have a feeling that this is just the beginning of an awesome year! Over the past two week the Scorpion Football team has been dominating over all their opponents! The week of 27th of August the freshman team beat Granite Hills 36-0, JV won 41-0, and of course Varsity won 47-0! Last week the team faced off against San Bernardino, Freshmen won 26-6, JV 39-0 and Varsity 47-3! So for those of you who are keeping track -- we are -- that is a total of 9 points for our opponents and 236 points for our Scorpions. That's the kind of math we love and that's the key.

My lovely Vice Presidents Tiffany and Emily will now pass out a copy of our Student Handbook and a Career Center Flyer. Also, we have homecoming information flyers about our Safari Sensation which would be incomplete without a barrel of monkeys for everyone. I hope to see each and every one of you out there supporting all events at Scorpion Country! Are there any questions? Thank you and good night!
