Free Osteoporosis Lecture and Bone Density Screening
Hesperia Recreation and Park District would like to invite all area senior citizens aged 55 and older to a free informative lecture and screening on osteoporosis.

"Osteoporosis, How it Can Affect You" will cover preventative measures one can take, signs and symptoms of the disease, as well as simple suggestions on how to live with osteoporosis. Following the lecture, there will be a free done density screening. Light refreshments will be served.

The lecture and screening will be held at the Percy Bakker Community Center, located at 9333 "E" Avenue, Hesperia on Tuesday, October 23 from 9 to 11 a.m.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23 AND THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25
Tae Kwon Do
Hesperia Recreation and Park District is offering an exciting new class of Tae Kwon Do. Learn the various skills of Tae Kwon Do with Master Bruce McGhee, a 5th degree Master Instructor, while gaining self-confidence, appreciation, discipline and inner peace. Master McGhee is known as an Instructor's Instructor with his wide knowledge of the martial arts from the old traditional arts to the new evolved martial arts of today.

Classes start monthly and are held on Tuesday and Thursday, from 6 to 7 p.m. for beginning students and 7 to 8 p.m. for advanced students at Lime Street Park Community Center.

Fee is $45 per participant. Pre-registration is required and can be made at Lime Street Park Community Center, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or online at hesperiaparks.recware.com. Program location, time and fees are subject to change and may be cancelled if minimum enrollment is not met.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24
Yoga for Life
Hesperia Recreation and Park District is offering yoga classes. Create strength and flexibility in your body and calm for your mind and spirit. This can be done through movement, breathing, and yoga poses. Celebrate being alive, vital, and complete as you practice yoga. Students must bring a yoga mat or a large towel to class.

Classes are held at Lime Street Park Community Center Mondays and Wednesdays of every month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for ages 13 and older. The fee is $40 per month. Archery Classes
Hesperia Recreation and Park District is now offering Archery classes for children and adults 10 years and older. Archers will learn the basics of archery including safety procedures and the nine steps to the ten ring. The instructor is a Level 2 archery coach and with 5 years of experience. Equipment rental is available.

Classes are held the 1st four Wednesdays of every month, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lime Street Park Community Center, 16292 Lime Street, Hesperia.

Beginners Tennis
Hesperia Recreation and Park District is offering Beginners Tennis classes. Students can learn court lines, volley, ground strokes, serve, scoring, tie breaker, drills, games and the Rules of Tennis and Code of Conduct. Beginners will have the opportunity to improve skills and bring their game to a higher level.

Classes are held the first four Mondays and Wednesdays of each month for ages 13 and older. Rackets are available, if needed.

1st Annual Family Costume Skate Night
Come out for an evening of family fun and excitement at Power Play Center. Hesperia Recreation and Park District is proud to announce its First Annual Family Costume Skate Night!

Trophies will be awarded for costumes in the following categories: most frightening, most original, most hilarious, and most enchanted. Fun activities will include: bobbing for apples, a fun-filled costume march and much more.

Family Costume Skate Night will be from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Power Play Center, 10770 "I" Avenue, Hesperia. Admission for this enjoyable evening is $6 per person, skates included. For more information call 244-1007.

Point Man International Ministries will be hosting a ceremony of remembrance in honor of Veterans Day. Please join us to commemorate the men and women who gave their lives in time of war and all past and present military personnel. Everyone is welcome to attend. Ceremony details are as follows:

Women On The Go!
Hesperia Recreation and Park District is offering Women on the Go workshops at Hercules Program Center, 17508 Hercules Bldg, B-5, Hesperia. These fun, informative, and themed workshops are for all women age 18 and older. The only requirement is curiosity and creativity.

The workshop fee is $40 per session (non-residents pay an additional $2 non-resident fee). Pre-registration is required and accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lime Street Park Community Center, 16292 Lime Street, Hesperia or online at hesperiaparks.recware.com.
