A motorcyclist died Friday night after his vehicle struck the side of an 18-wheeler truck.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to reports of a traffic collision near the intersection of U.S. Route 395 and Three Flags Road at 7:16 p.m. on Friday, September 28.

According to investigators, a motorcyclist, riding on a 1997 Harley Davidson Sportster, was northbound on 395 when the truck driver pulled his vehicle forward after stopping at the Three Flags Road stop sign and turned south onto 395. The motorcyclist struck the side of the truck and was thrown from the motorcycle.

San Bernardino County Fire Department officials pronounced the motorcyclist -- whose name is being withheld pending family notification -- dead at the scene. The truck driver was uninjured.

The investigation into the accident is continuing, and deputies do not believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the collision.
