Hey, whatcha think about those Scorpions? After stinging the Apple Valley Sun Devils 22-13 last Friday night at Scorpion Stadium the Hesperia High football team's record is a perfect 6-0.
And what a difference a home stadium makes. After visiting other facilities for their so-called home games since the school's inception in the 1980s, the Scorpions finally got their own stadium last fall.

This Friday, Coach Robert Kistner's undefeated team will host cross-town rival Sultana for the annual Key Game. It will be the first time the Scorpions face the always tough Sultans on their own turf. Talk about a meaningful game. This one has the makings of a truly historic event.

The ramifications of choosing WLC to build Oak Hills High may linger, but the school board's followup 4-0 decision (Board President Bruce Minton was absent when the board voted) to award the contract to Riverside-based ASR Contractors is already bearing sweet fruit.

A day after the ASR management team formally signed the contract with the school district, the construction company was on the site. Normally a company would take at least a month to fire up the earth movers, but it looks like construction could begin any day now, if it hasn't already.

And ASR Constructors is no stranger to construction in the Victor Valley. Besides working on a number of school projects throughout the valley, the company was hired for major construction projects at the Greentree Hotel in Victorville and Victor Valley College.
