I have been notified today that the effort to recall three Hesperia Board of Education members is dead. The timeline to correct problems with the petition has expired and the county has notified the proponents that if it wishes to proceed, they need to start the process over.

I am gratified that this effort has subsided. I am disheartened that the petitioners have never taken the opportunity to discuss any of these issues with me personally. There is an old proverb which says, "It takes a village to raise a child," and we as a village must work together to raise our children. Our community demographics are rapidly changing and we have many challenges ahead of us to effectively and prudently address these issues. We truly are a wonderful community and the political force that drove this recall effort should now put their politics behind them and focus on the real issues, our children's education. I feel that the current board is now functioning well and beginning to work together for the good of all Hesperia students. We are moving ahead with the construction of the new High School, the new elementary schools and the opening of a new Continuation High School, Canyon Ridge October 29, 2007.

With the support of the community, we will solve the problems facing our district and provide quality education to our children. I am grateful I will not have to be distracted fighting to keep my position on the board and can focus on the many decisions that need to be made for the district.
