Councilwoman Rita Vogler and the city of Hesperia were given awards by the Hesperia Chamber of Commerce at their gala Friday night.

Vogler, the owner of Wonderland Travel, was honored with the Gil Zank Award, for 25 years of continuous membership and participation in the chamber. The two-term councilwoman is a past chamber president and has been a vocal supporter of the chamber while on the city council.

The city of Hesperia was also recognized at the ceremony for their "partnership" with the chamber. The city currently provides $60,000 in funds to the chamber each calendar year.

Other award winners included Jan and Ernie Gibeault, who received the Lillian King Award for their dedication and volunteer work on behalf of the chamber.

Hesperia Recreation and Park District General Manager Cal Camara received the Business Person of the Year Award as the person who most supported the chamber during the past year.

Midway Home Solutions was honored as the Business of the Year.

Randy Banks received the President's Recognition Award for his work on the 2007 Victor Valley Airshow.

The chamber also honored outgoing board member Debby Benton and outgoing president Eric Schroder. Chris Ackerman was recognized for his work editing the chamber's Desert Star newsletter.

The annual gala was held at Hesperia Senior Campus.
