Good evening Board and Cabinet Members. I hope your holidays were great and the New Year is treating you well. I can hardly believe it is 2008 and my last semester at Sultana High School.

Last month, from December 10 through December 13, everyone with a Renaissance card had a chance to "make a wish" - which allowed them to ask for any type of present under $100. Ironically, we drew the name of one of our own ASB students, Forrest Champoux. We granted his wish of a new bicycle. He was pleasantly surprised.

Sultana's talent really showed in our recent "Let It Snow Talent Show" held on December 15th. Approximately 600 people attended this event which featured about 20 different SHS student acts. It was a great time... not to mention the class of 2008 won the Class Act competition for the second year in a row. This year the sophomores gave us (the seniors) a run for our money as they took second place.

As you probably know, the month of December (and our first semester) concluded for us at SHS with some "exciting" finals. All in all the two weeks that followed seemed "okay" - I guess.

We returned to school on January 8th and immediately got things started with an assembly for our seniors on January 9th. The purpose of this assembly was to cover Prom, Grad Nite and especially Graduation information.

Also during our first week back, we really got things going with our first winter pep rally which took place on January 11th - just before our teams played Hesperia. We were a little upset with the outcome because most of our teams returned home without a "W" - except for our girl's soccer team who were victorious. I'm sure we will have better luck next time.

That brings us to this week's events. Our annual blood drive is taking place this Thursday, January 17th. Our goal this year is to have 260 people donate. Last year we exceeded our goal and plan to do it again this year. We encourage any District employees to come out and join us anytime between 8am and 1pm to give blood.

Later this month, we will gear up for HHS once again with another pep rally on January 30th. However, this rally will be a little different. What will be taking place you ask? The theme will be "Battle of the Sexes." It will be very interesting to the eye with all the pink and blue decorations along with the games - boys vs. girls. I can't wait to play, but everyone knows the girls will end up dominating!

Some of the events we are currently busy planning for next month include Sultan's Ball, our Winter Formal, titled "Bright Lights, Big City" to be held on February 2nd as well as a Diversity assembly with details still in the works. The weeks ahead are sure to be exciting.

It was once again my pleasure to inform you on our past, present and future activities. Before I close, are there any questions? Thank you and have a great night!
