While Hesperia didn't exactly become a winter wonderland, the Star of the West did receive an ample amount of what the city so desperately needed - water.

A few inches of the much-needed H20 fell on Hesperia, thanks to two storm fronts that hit the area last week. The first brought cold arctic air with occasional flurries of slushy snow to Hesperia. On the weekend, a warmer system brought a less frigid storm to the area. The earlier cold front brought as much as four feet of snow to local mountains.

Along with the snow came tragedy in Wrightwood where three skiiers were killed in avalanches at Mountain High ski resort. Christopher Allport, 60, Michael McKay, 23, and Darren Coffey, 33, died as a result of injuries from the avalanches.
