So winter is almost over? Don't tell that to Hesperians who saw their day-time temperature dip into the mid-30s on Saturday afternoon.

Just before 5 p.m., snowflakes started to fall with some flakes as big as quarters.

Earlier, the National Weather Service released a Severe Weather Alert. Snow was expected down to the 2,500-foot level with several inches of snow expected in the mountains.

A wind advisory was expected to remain in effect through Sunday afternoon when the weather trend was expected to begin changing back to more springlike. Sunny skies are expected Monday, just in time for the official first day of spring next week.
