The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is seeking the driver of a pick-up truck after a Monday night hit and run left a man dead.


Shortly after midnight on Monday night, a motorist and a friend left a bar and headed home northbound on Fifth Avenue. Near the intersection of Fifth and Verde Street, the vehicle ran out of gas and the motorist and his passenger began pushing the car.


Near the intersection of Fifth and Eucalyptus Street, a burgundy pick-up truck approached the pair from behind at a high rate of speed, striking the passenger who had been pushing the out of gas car. The man was thrown to the shoulder of the road, where he died of his resulting injuries.


The driver of the pick-up truck reportedly paused for a short time before driving away. The truck is described as burgundy Dodge Ram with possible front-end damage and a damaged headlight.


The victim has not been identified at this time.
