The Hesperia Unified School District's next elementary school will cost the district more than $13 million.

At Monday's school board meeting, the board voted unanimously to award the bid for Krystal Elementary School to Redlands-based Parkwest Construction.

The company will build the new school, which is slated to be open for business in August 2009, for a sum of $13,497,000. Seven companies submitted sealed bids, which ranged up to $19,230,000.

The school will be built on the northeast corner of Farmdale Avenue and Krystal Road.

The board approved the bid in a 4-0 decision. Board member Bruce Minton was absent due to illness.

The next meeting of the HUSD school board will take place on May 5 at 6 p.m. in the HUSD Administration and Educational Support Center Annex, 15576 Main Street.
