Businesses, higher education institutions, local organizations and more were on hand at Sultan Hall last Thursday evening to do one thing: invest in our future.

By the time the Sultana High School annual Senior Awards Night was through, numerous donors had given countless thousands of dollars worth of scholarships to Sultana's best and brightest.

"I know we just have a great future," said assistant principal JoAnne Romero. "I want to thank parents for producing such a wonderful group of young people."

Romero said she is certain that those students who were honored will become doctors and others from the health care professionals, dedicated members of the military to "protect our borders and protect democracy," outstanding teachers, firefighters, creative artists and more.

"I think we are all in really good hands," Romero said.

Sultana principal Tracy Marsh agreed.

"I do not need a speech to tell you how proud I am of these students," Marsh said.

Before awards were presented, the Sultana AFJROTC Color Guard presented the colors and award-winning student Christine Lenze led the Pledge of Allegiance.
