A Hesperia High School student has been arrested for carjacking a vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and Maple Avenue earlier this month.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to 911 call that a woman had been carjacked.

The victim told deputies that three Hispanic males had approached her vehicle and one of them, whom she described as a juvenile, had held a knife to her stomach, jerked her purse off her shoulder and then took her car, a white 2005 Toyota Avalon. The stolen vehicle, with license plate number 5PRG743, was last seen on southbound Interstate 15.

On Friday, July 9, using information gained in part through cooperation with the Hesperia Unified School District school police, a 15-year-old Hesperia High School student was arrested at his residence on the 8700 block of Bridgeport Avenue on a charge of carjacking, and has been booked at the juvenile detention center in Apple Valley.

The investigation is ongoing.

The other two suspects are described as Hispanic male adults in their 20s, 5'9", with black hair and brown eyes, wearing white T-shirts and khaki pants.
