A 36-year-old Hesperia man has been arrested after allegedly having sex with a five-year-old girl.

On Monday, July 23, at 10:27 p.m., the mother of the child came home to her home on the 13800 block of Lemongrass Way and allegedly discovered houseguest Luis Alonzo Garcia, 36, in the middle of a sex act with her daughter. The mother then reportedly became hysterical, striking Garcia in an attempt to get him away from her child.

When San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies arrived, they found Garcia outside the residence and he was reportedly taken into custody without resistance.

Garcia was booked into the Victor Valley Jail with a $100,000 bail. On Wednesday, July 25, Garcia was charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child, each of which carries a minimum sentence of 8 years in prison, and one count of a newly minted law, oral sex with a child under 10 years of age. If convicted of the latter charge, Garcia will serve 15 years to life.

The child was taken to Kaiser Hospital for treatment and observation.
