An early morning police pursuit down Rock Springs Road Tuesday ended with two hospitalized and the recovery of a much worse-for-wear stolen car.

At 5:24 a.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Deputy Bela Lukacs attempted to stop a vehicle for code violations. The driver refused to stop, and instead accelerated, driving through several stop signs as he drove down Rock Springs Road, toward Apple Valley. He turned off onto a dirt road after heading onto Roundup Way.

He lost control of the vehicle and rolled it several times. The driver fled the vehicle on foot, and was caught after a short foot pursuit.

The driver was identified as Travis Bangs, 18, of Apple Valley. He and a female passenger who remained in the vehicle following the crash were transported to local hospitals for their injuries.

The vehicle was discovered to be an unreported stolen vehicle out of Apple Valley.

Bangs was booked at West Valley Detention Center for felony failure to yield and possession of stolen property.
