I've seen some Yes on 8 signs and they also say "protect marriage." My question to you is protect it from what? Prop 8 does nothing to protect marriage, it just discriminates.

Protecting marriage should be for all Americans not just a select few. Grow up and get over yourselves, live in the present. Our country became what it is by leaving a place that governed religion. It is hard to believe that in this day and age people are trying to let their religion govern marriage. Our government is in place to protect our rights as Americans in the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness.

Most ads for Yes on 8 are in regards to teaching our children about gay marriage.  What most people do not realize is that being gay is a born identity, not a choice. Sultana, a local high school here in Hesperia, has a group called the "Gay and Straight Alliance," which began in 2005. These groups are here in our schools and are very accepted. The staff, student bodies and teachers alike are involved.  It is just accepted and respected.

So, let the schools teach about it.  The groups respect each others views on equality and peace. What kind of world do we live in when High School students are more mature about the subject then the adult voters here in California?

Seriously, everytime I hear someone talk bad about gay people or when I see a yes on 8 sign, I feel as though I'm in elementary school when the kids point and say "eeww, that boy kissed another boy." Allowing the gay and lesbian community to marry has absolutely NO effect on heterosexual marriage. People need to realize that these people are human beings like the rest of us and all they want is the chance to marry the person they love.

I hope many of you will join me in voting NO on prop 8. Every vote counts. Help us tear down the ban on marriage. Do it for the land of the free. U.S.A.
