Today (Saturday October 24, 2008) I received a telephone solicitation from Jim Pace, Hesperia Teachers Association President, urging me to vote for Mark Kirk for Hesperia City Council. Pace informed me that the Hesperia Teachers Union supports Mark Kirk.

I thought about that for a moment before realizing the corruption that is occurring in our city. Robert Kirk, Mark's father, voted to get rid of former HUSD Superintendent Hank Richardson, and paid him $331,050 for the last two years of a contract unfulfilled. In turn, the Hesperia Teachers Union throws in their support (taxpayer money) to his son's campaign for a seat on the council. We have here a classic example of you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours.

And how much does the campaign for Mark Kirk for city council cost the taxpayers of Hesperia?  $331,050 for a Superintendent who is no longer on the job, and however much money the Hesperia Teachers Association as invested in Mark's campaign.
