During this week's snowstorm, Hesperia residents and students and staff at the Hesperia Unified School District received telephone calls letter giving them status reports.

HUSD Superintendent Mark McKinney called twice on Wednesday, once at 5 a.m., once around 4 p.m., letting students and employees know there was no school.

City Manager Mike Podegracz reached out on Thursday, warning residents to stay off of snowy streets while city workers cleared major arteries.

Both were using programs developed by the NTI Group. Connect-CTY allows the city to automatically call thousands of residents with an automated message and Connect-ED does the same for school districts.

To get added to the Connect-CTY list, sign up at CityofHesperia.us or call 947-1059. To be added to the Connect-ED list, call 244-4411 once the school year resumes.
