Old electronics can be safely disposed of Saturday, when the City of Hesperia holds an e-waste recycling event.

Electronics, including computers, televisions, cell phones and keyboards, contain lead, mercury and other hazardous chemicals that can leech into the city's water supply if simply dropped into the landfill.

On Saturday, January 3, the city and Clean Earth Recycling will be holding a free recycling event to take unwanted electronics from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 15776 Main Street, behind the old City of Hesperia public works building, on the corner of Ninth Avenue and Main Street. Enter from Ninth and turn onto the driveway behind the building.
