Despite the chilly weather, almost 100 participants turned out for an early morning run Thanksgiving morning at the annual Turkey Trot.

"The first year, we had about 30 runners," said organizer Heather Johnson. "Participation has grown each year. It's a fun, healthy way to start of Thanksgiving with your family."

The event, sponsored by Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and starting and ending at the church's Maple Avenue chapel, included a five-kilometer run, a mile-long fun run and a Turkey Toss (throwing a rubber chicken for distance). Winners received a mug bearing the year's theme -- iTrot: a turkey listening to an iPod.

Hesperians Kyle Gallagher and Michael Buckhoff took first and second place in the 5k run, with times of 16 minutes and 6 seconds and 16 minutes and 15 seconds, respectively.
