Sultana overwhelmed crosstown rivals Hesperia in an at-home dual meet last Wednesday, 42-27.


State-ranked, 189-pound Hesperia star Danny Reyes was bumped up to the heavyweight division and scored a 6-4 overtime decision against Sultana's Manny Mazariegos. That left Sultana's Tremain Nunez to face Hesperia's Gabe Arriola in the 214-pound division. Nunez pinned his opponent in the third period.

Hesperia's I. Pinto pinned Sultana's Welch in the 112-pound division.


Hesperia's Delgado pinned Sultana's Keaster in the 119-pound division.


Hesperia's B. Pinto pinned Burton of Hesperia in the 125-pound division.


Sultana's R. Fillingame pinned Hesperia's Burton in the 130-pound division.


Hesperia Moore won a decision over Sultana's Moreno, 5-3, in the 135-pound division.


Sultana's Regan beat Hartwell of Hesperia, 17-2, in the 140-pound division.


Sultana's Ardito won a 4-2 decision of Hesperia Rodriguez in the 145-pound division.


Sultana's McArthur pinned Soriano of Hesperia in the 152-pound division.


In the 160-pound division, Sultana's Bollinger won by forfeit.


Sloat of Hesperia won a 6-5 decision over Collins of Sultana in the 171-pound division.


J. Fillingame of Sultana won a decision over Marchese of Hesperia in the 189-pound division.


Nunez of Sultana pinned Arriola of Hesperia in the 215-pound division.


In the heavyweight division, Reyes of Hesperia won in a 6-4 overtime decision of Sultana's Mazariegos.

Hesperia boys squeak by Sultana in 1-0 soccer win


A goal in the last few minutes of the match carried the Hesperia boys soccer team to victory over Sultana in their Mojave River League opener last Thursday night. Senior striker Giovanny Rivera scored the 1-0 game-winner.

Mathis leads Hesperia to 68-24 win over Sultana


The Scorpion boys basketball team began its league play with a 68-24 victory over the Sultans last Thursday.


Hesperia's A.J. Mathis led the charge with 24 points and nine rebounds.

Sultana boys basketball loses to Silverado, 81 to 40


The Sultana boys basketball team came up short to Silverado in nonleague play last Tuesday at Silverado, 81-40.


Sultana scorers were Lamp, 10, Salgado, 9, Buchanan, 6, Salazar, 3, Crigler, 4, Adams, 3, Santos, 2, DeMase, 2, Johnson, 1.


Silverado's Darius McGee was the game's top scorer with 15 points.


Hesperia Christian defeats Mesa Grande Academy, 72-38


Hesperia Christian's Jordan Vargas had 26 points to lead the Patriots to a nonleague game victory in Calimesa last Tuesday.


Other HCS scorers were Thomas, 10, O'Brien, 10, Gage, 6, Barton, 5, Maerzluft, 5, Arreola, 4, For, 2, Dorsey, 2, Ochoa, 2.


Mesa Grande's Ochoa scored 18 points.

The Lady Sultans defeated Hesperia 48-27 in Mojave River League play last Thursday.
