Recall Not Based on the Facts
The recall petition states, "Awarding a contract to the least experienced bidder, according to district standard, paying up to seven million dollars in unneeded additional fees." The contract company that they are referring to is WLC.

So under the California Public Records Act, I asked HUSD to provide the signed contracts that the recall petition claims were awarded.

In response to my request, I received a letter from Mark Mc Kinney HUSD Assistant Superintendent of Personnel, and quoting from his letter here is Mark's response, "There is no signed contract with WLC."

So the 100 million dollar contract with WLC that the recall petitioners have been using to upset this community is false. We have no contract with WLC.

Second question from the recall petition and I quote, "Hiring a consultant that duplicates the job of the district managers in the amount of $10,000 dollars per month ..." $350,000.

Although initially approved by the board on June 19, 2007 to offer a contract, on July 23, 2007, the board over turned this action and no contract was ever issued. So the second item on the recall that the board hired a consultant which will cost $350,000 turns out to be untrue as well.

It is clear to me that the recall petitioners should have checked the facts before unnecessarily alarming this community with their falsehoods. The damage they have done to HUSD's reputation is unprecedented. I now wonder if these same folks will have the courage to admit they were wrong and apologize to the community for putting all of us through this.
