Deputies have arrested a couple that allegedly kept their elderly mother in a woodshed.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies Dan Rodriguez and Mike Cleary responded to a reported disturbance on the 11000 block of First Avenue on Sunday, May 10 -- Mothers Day -- shortly before 5 p.m.

There, they learned that the 94-year-old mother of suspect Ronald Rego, 59, was being kept in a shed with no electricity, no water and no heat or cooling. A house is being constructed on the property, and the Regos live in a travel trailer on the site, according to the department.

The 94 year old was reportedly in good condition and is now staying with a neighbor.

Rego and his wife Miriam, 45, were arrested on a charge of elderly abuse and booked into Victor Valley Jail.
