A dirt lot and a pair of sneakers link a teen who fled from a traffic stop and an earlier burglary, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

On Sunday, May 10, shortly before midnight, near the intersection of Temecula and Lassen Avenues, Deputy Paul Solorio pulled over a black Nissan with a missing front license plate. The male teenager driving the car got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Witnesses told deputies they saw the teenager run through a yard of a Danbury Avenue residence. The yard in question was dirt, and deputies were able to match shoe prints there to ones found when the teen fled the car.

Deputy Tina Kirby found more matching footprints in a yard off Westlawn Avenue, but the footprints did not go any further than an adjacent vacant lot with a diesel truck parked there. The Explorer Scout riding with Kirby spotted a person under the truck, and Kirby ordered the teen suspect out. Solorio took the teenager to the Hesperia sheriff's station on a charge of resisting and officer and to conduct additional investigation.

Soon after, Kirby was called to the site of a reported burglary off of Napa Court. A witness there said he saw a black Nissan in the area, with a young white male running to it with bags full of property. The witness remembered two numbers off the car's license plate, which matched the car that Solorio had stopped earlier. Kirby searched the burglarized residence and discovered footprints that matched the teen suspect's other footprints.

After additional investigation, deputies arrested Hesperia man Raynard Johnson, 19, allegedly uncovering stolen property from the burglary at his home, and he was arrested for possession of stolen property.

The teen was arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property and booked at the juvenile hall in Apple Valley.

The investigation is continuing.
