A man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly attempted to shoot the mother of his child and her boyfriend.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Victorville resident Dominique Cordero, 26, was visiting the apartment of his child's mother on the 17100 block of Donert Street on May 9 when he ran into the woman's current boyfriend in the parking lot.

The two allegedly argued, which then escalated when Cordero reportedly pulled out a handgun and began firing at the boyfriend, as well as firing shots at his child's mother, who had been standing in the doorway of her apartment at the time. She and her boyfriend fled inside the apartment, closing the door. A round then allegedly struck the wall near the door.

Cordero reportedly attempted to kick down the door while the boyfriend was holding it closed, before fleeing the area, dropping his cellular telephone as he left the area.

Deputies picked up Cordero at his mother's house in Victorville and he was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and booked into Victor Valley Jail.

According to the department, Cordero's handgun was recovered behind the CVS Pharmacy near the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Hesperia Road.
