A Hesperia man was arrested on torture and child abuse charges after an area hospital treated his 5-month-old infant for a broken leg, bruising and a lacerated scrotum.

Loma Linda University Children's Hospital notified the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Crimes Against Children Detail on June 5 after treating the boy, who had been taken to the facility with the scrotal injury. During surgery, doctors noticed the victim's laceration was smooth and had clean edges. Further tests revealed the children had bruising, a broken leg and possible head trauma, according to the investigating agency.

The boy's father, Chauncey Taylor, 27, of Hesperia, was arrested and booked at the Sheriff's Central Jail for Torture and Child Abuse following an investigation. Authorities allege Taylor intentionally caused the injuries, which occured over a few months.

Chauncey is being held at the jail on $500,000 bail.
