A knife-wielding, would-be carjacker last Wednesday afternoon placed a knife against a driver's arm and demanded the victim out of his car. The victim, however, quickly accelerated away from the scene near Mauna Loa Street and Balsam Avenue, according to a Hesperia Police Station report.

Hesperia deputies responded to a report of an attempted carjacking at about 4 p.m. The victim reportedly was traveling west on Mauna Loa with his vehicle's windows down when he stopped at a stop sign at Balsam. While stopped, a man came to his vehicle, placed a knife against his arm, which caused a small laceration, and demanded he get out of his car. The victim accelerated, and the suspect left in the area, the report stated.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult, about 5'9" with average build. He was wearing a black zip-up hoodie, a black hat, black bandana and black sunglasses.
