Organizers estimated more than 5,000 people attended the Victor Valley Airshow Saturday at Hesperia Airport.

Bands, food vendors, face painters and more competed with the day's main attraction: a variety of aircraft, parachutists and more aviation-related activities and attractions.

Turbulence and rising temperatures scrubbed a planned attempt to create the world's biggest American flag, but festivities continued the rest of the day unabated.
