Hello Board and Cabinet members.

We are now entering our fifth week of the school year; it is flying by! We have already held many activities that our class has succeeded in planning and conducting.

During the first week of school, the freshmen were greeted with an informative assembly.
In the second week of school, we took our school pictures and ID Cards as well as Renaissance cards were distributed.
During the third week of school, August 30 to be exact, we held our Back to School Night. It was a huge success and we had a great turnout. There were performances by the ROTC Color Guard and Drill Team as well as the Band, Choir and Video Productions.

As recently as last week, we held our Test Fest. If you recall, I mentioned last month that our Leadership Class was in the process of brainstorming ideas to reward the students for our increased API score. We decided to host a *Test Fest* event, which is similar to a Club
Fair in that various clubs had different booths and inflatable activities were brought on campus during an extended lunch. In addition to renting booths, ASB gave out nearly $2000 in coupons. SHS students who earned scores of 300 or greater received coupons to spend as they liked at the various booths. This was an effort to reward and encourage our students to go above and beyond. Officially our A.P.I score is 701.

I apologize for my raspy voice. I lost it this past weekend at ASB camp. Thirty of our own ASB students, as well as more than three hundred other high school students, traveled to Big Bear to attend. ASB classes came from Long Beach all the way back to the desert. While at camp, we attended various workshops and shared ideas with students from other schools.

Tomorrow as you all know is September 11 - Patriot Day. In memory of the men and women who lost their lives our school is wearing red with and blue. Also, at 6:30 in the morning there will be a ceremony in remembrance featuring performances by our band, choir and ROTC.

Our first pep rally of the year will be held this Friday September, 14. We play Cajon at home!
Dance tickets went on sale today for homecoming starting at $15 and progressively increasing to $30 dollars. It is always best to buy early to save money.

Spirit Week, held the week of homecoming, will include plenty of fun such as dress-up days as follows:
Monday - P.J. day
Tuesday - Twin day
Wednesday - Duct Tape day
Thursday - Jungle day
Friday - Nothing but teal - that*s the deal!

Saturday, September 29, the Associated Student Body of Sultana High dares our students to venture into Sultan Hall for a Journey into a Jungle Oasis.
