Good evening members of the school board, cabinet and audience. I am La Tesha Ewing, your new Mojave Board Representative, and I just want to say I am very pleased to be here today.

Opening of School - The first month at Mojave has been going great. In fact, we've already had two people graduate. Right now we have 280 students attending and by October we will have over 300 students attending our school. The first week of school 242 out of 280 students attended. In addition to our attendance improving, Mojave's unit production has also increased.

ASB Events - ASB elections were held on Thursday, September 6 and Friday, September 7. Ten students ran but the results are not in yet. I'm sure you're all on the edges of your seats to find out who won but I'll let you know next time I'm here. Social Studies and Art will be sponsoring the International Peace Day activities on Friday, September 28, 2007. They will hand out peace bands and peace stickers.

Synergy Day - Mojave peer leaders will be hosting their first Synergy Day of the year, the seventh in Mojave history. There will be 21 Mojave peer leaders, 50 Mojave students, 15 students from Silver Valley High School, 10 students from Norco High School, as well as staff members from Mojave, Silver Valley, Chaparral, Norco High and the Grizzly Academy. Also, Mr. Pittsford who is the new principal of Canyon Ridge High School, and Mrs. Kleber who is Canyon Ridge's counselor, will be there. In addition, the Principal from Grizzly Academy, and one of their teachers, will be coming all the way from San Luis Obispo to attend. Officer Brian Owens will be participating as well as Jodi Consten, our District Staff Development Coordinator. We are so thankful that so many people outside Mojave are just as excited about Synergy Day as we are.

Field Trip to Getty Museum and "Deal or No Deal" - Mojave students who have earned all of their six required units will be able to attend our first field trip of the year on September 28. We will be going to the Getty Museum, USC and then off to the hit TV show, "Deal or No Deal".

My name is Brandon Lee and I am also pleased to be one of Mojave's Board Representatives for this year. Mojave hired four new teachers this year. Mr. Barrales is our new U.S. History teacher, Mr. Finch is our physical science teacher, Mr. von der Heide, who comes to Mojave from Sultana High School, is teaching world history, and finally Mr. Efting is our new algebra and geometry teacher for this year. They are very good teachers and we hope to have them for a long time.

And now for our sports report - soccer doesn't start until January. Mojave is putting together a volleyball team and that doesn't start until November. Our softball team has played one game; we didn't win but that's not what counts. As a team they are doing great in practice and they all loved playing the game.

As for journalism, we have a really good team of students that are motivated enough to get the newspaper written every month. We just pressed our first issue of the Howler which we are handing out tonight. I am actually the news section chief working along with Roxy Vigil and Sal Carrazco. We have been working hard every morning and trying to stay on top of things that are going on at school. On, the features section is Sarah Soria and Nick Brennon. In the awards section Kortnee Mendez is chief and she works with Victoria Deal and Jacob Garnar. We all work very hard to get out paper out.

Thank you very much for listening to our presentation. We love Mojave and we hope that as you continue to learn more about whom we are and what we are doing, you'll gain a new appreciation for us and our school as well.

Are there any questions?
