Move over musicians on Santa Monica's Third Street Promenade.

Hesperia's Dakota Brooks, a.k.a. Das Guitar Man, is bringing his contemporary, folky brand of acoustic rock to Hesperia's streets actually grocery store fronts.

Last week while in front of Vons, the Sultana High School senior strummed his Dean acoustic-electric guitar while singing tunes from his recently released CD, the aptly named "Who The Hell Is Das Guitar Man?" Several grocery store customers briefly listened and subsequently purchased a copy of his self-produced album for $5 each.

The CD, which was recorded at Silver Rose Studios in Hesperia, has seven sparsely-produced songs that cover several genres.

"It's a little bit of everything that makes you laugh," Brooks said.

After getting some school credit issues straightened out this year, he has his sights set on going to USC or UC Riverside. Ultimately he wants to pursue a music-related career, but not behind a guitar.

"I want to be an entertainment lawyer copyright infringement and stuff like that," he said.
