There was no denying that the slow economy took its toll, but those present at the third annual Kid's Fest event at the Epicentre seemed to be enjoying themselves thoroughly.
"We've got the important people here," said co-organizer Kristie Heuck of the Hesperia Girl Scouts.
Co-sponsored by the Girl Scouts and Hesperia Recreation and Park District, the 2009 edition also featured a notable presence by Scholastic, a global children's publishing, education and media company, which set up two entire rooms full of educational items for the Kid's Fest.
The event featured informational literature, demonstrations, booths (this year there were no fees), door prizes, food and more.
Joining the main event sponsors with booths, were the Hesperia Zoo, Cub Scouts Pack 18, Boy Scouts, San Bernardino County Sheriff Explorers, the California Highway Patrol, White Tiger Martial Arts, High Desert Taekwondo Academy, S.B. County Firefighters.
