A grand opening celebration last Tuesday marked the opening Meridian Urgent Care and Occupational Health Center at the Super Target Center in Hesperia.

Urgent care provides first-come, first-served medical service without an appointment. Such facilities should be used for medical problems needing immediate attention but not serious enough for the hospital emergency room.

Meridian Urgent Care offers urgent care services for minor lacerations and injuries, fractures and sprains, mild headaches and stomache aches, respiratory difficulties associated with asthma and allergies, and treatment of sore throats, coughs and flu-like symptoms including fever and vomiting.

Meridian also performs sports and pre-employment physicals and provides treatment for worker's compensation injuries.

Medical director of the facility is Dan Vasile, D.O., who is board certified in family practice, ambulatory care and urgent care. Dr. Vasile is an associate professor of medicine at Western University of Health Sciences and Riverside Community College.

Meridian Urgent Care is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.

Meridian also has locations in Apple Valley and Barstow.
