Two Hesperians have been arrested for allegedly attempting to steal beer from a convenience store -- while a deputy was in the parking lot outside.

While on patrol at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Deputy Paul Solorio spotted a car parked south of the Fastrip convenience store on Main Street near Fifth Avenue. Believing the vehicle to be suspicious, Solorio pulled into the parking lot and made contact with the driver.

While he was speaking with the driver, another person came out of the store with two 18-packs of beer, only to be stopped by the clerk, who pointed out that Solorio was outside.

Solorio arrested Michael Metzger, 19, and Brandon Lee, 20, both of Hesperia, on a charge of burglary and booked them at Victor Valley Jail.
