A Victorville man was arrested Sunday after allegedly trying to cash a stolen check at the Wells Fargo Bank inside Hesperia's Vons.


San Bernardino County Deputy Frank Hardin arrested Bevin Darrell Smith, 39, shortly after 3 p.m. on Nov. 22. Smith had allegedly attempted to cash a check stolen from a mailbox in Ontario.


Smith was charged with forgery, burglary and possession of stolen property and booked at West Valley Detention Center.


The next day, Hardin executed a search warrant at Smith's home. According to the sheriff's department, Hardin found a 12-gauge shotgun and photographs allegedly depicting his affiliation with a gang.


Smith was arrested again and booked at West Valley Detention Center on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, commission of a felony while out on bail and for a gang enhancement to the other charges.
