If you're wondering what resolution to keep this year, perhaps you should take the lead of 11-year-old Madison Marzano.

"Maddy," as she's known by family members and friends, is setting out to raise $10,000 for cancer research. For the average person that would be a daunting task, but this young Hesperian isn't a typical girl. At the age of 1 she battled cancer and won. That was 10 years ago.

Now with a lifetime ahead of her, Maddy and her supporters are selling colorful hats that they knitted at local events and fundraisers. The culmination will be held in April when she and other cancer survivors gather for the annual Hesperia Relay For Life event.

So if you're not sure which resolution to keep, how about one that makes the lives of others a little brighter? Resolve to spread the message of hope through your actions.
