Clean up some of Hesperia's biggest messes, and you could get a free day at a Disneyland in return.

Hesperia is participating in Disney Parks' "Give a Day, Get a Day" promotion, which rewards volunteers in participating program with a one-day pass to one of their parks, including Disneyland.

"You log onto the Disney Parks Web site, and you can search by ZIP code. Opportunities for the city of Hesperia will show up," said Rachel Molina, a Senior Office Assistant for the city of Hesperia, and the person who's spearheading the city's Volunteer Network program. "You just show up for the actual day, and after that, within 72 hours, the city will verify the attendance of the volunteer and after that, Disney will get the ticket to the volunteer."

(Online readers note that Hesperia may not show up in Disney's database until Monday.)

Although the city's new volunteer network is available through the city's Web site, CityOfHesperia.us, volunteers interested in the Disney promotion will need to visit DisneyParks.com to sign-up for the eligible event this month.

"We're posting a clean-up day that is going to be on the 20th of February," said Molina. Volunteers will spend two hours cleaning up illegally dumped items near Krystal Elementary School or off of Maple Avenue. "The purpose of Disney's program is to reward volunteers for giving back. ... Their program stipulates that it's a one-time opportunity, not an ongoing opportunity."

And if volunteers are inspired to do more, the city's Volunteer Network has plenty of work available.

"We currently have 15 different organizations represented. We have about 75 opportunities represented," said Molina.
