A resident shot a woman allegedly attempting to break into his Maple Avenue home on Saturday.

On Feb. 20, the Hesperia station of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call from a resident, who told them someone was attempting to break into his home and that he was armed with a gun.

The resident reportedly yelled at the would-be intruder that he had a gun. She then allegedly broke the front window and stuck her head inside.

"Fearing for his safety and the safety of his family," the sheriff's department official release reads in part, "the victim fired at the suspect."

The woman then reportedly fled and was picked up by deputies.

Medical personnel at Arrowhead regional Medical Center determined the bullet had gone through the woman's chest without striking anything vital.

Jennifer London, 23, was booked at West Valley Detention Center on a charge of residential burglary. She is being held on $125,000 bail.
