With the winter chill finally clearing away, both Hesperia American and National Little League teams started their seasons last weekend.

At Lime Street Park last Saturday morning, Hesperia American kicked off opening day with thunderous music, uplifting speeches and numerous youth ready to play.

"I've got nothing but support from this board," Hesperia American board president Joe Nerio said. "They haven't missed a beat."

Nerio also applauded parents and volunteers for their support.

"Anyone who comes and gives up of their time it means a lot. We have so much support, it's awesome."

Following the pep talks by Nerio, park board president Rebekah Swanson and a few others, a group of young players recited the Little League Pledge. A Little League major leaguer threw out the ceremonial first pitch, and after the teams were introduced the season officially was on.
