Wes Canfield, a lifelong resident of Hesperia, is joining the Star as an advertising field sales representative.

Besides representing the Star, Canfield will sell advertising space in the Daily Press and other Freedom High Desert products. Canfield will serve the western part of the city while Sheila Mockett covers the eastern end.

"I'm excited to be able to do something for the community," Canfield said. "I'm pretty pumped up to be able to do something for these businesses."

Canfield, 27, spent eight years with Sunland Ford as a member of Sunland's auto sales and financing departments. Recently he owned a mortgage modification business that assisted homeowners who were upside-down in their mortgages. Canfield attended Joshua Circle Elementary, Ranchero Middle and Sultana High schools. He also attended Victor Valley College.

His work ethic is deeply rooted, having first worked at Stater Bros. at the age of 16.

"I started working as soon as I could."

Over the past eight years he has attended many sales and personal development programs and is an AFIP sales certified professional.

Canfield describes himself as a movie who also enjoys mixed martial arts and talking about philosophy and psychology. He also is an avid poker player who has competed at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Canfield and Devon, his wife of seven years, live in Hesperia.
