The final tally is in.


Madison "Maddy" Marzano, the 11-year-old cancer survivor who battled cancer as an infant, raised $6,535 for the the Hesperia Relay for Life. The event was held in April at Hesperia Civic Park.


She set out to raise $10,000 to celebrate 10 years of being cancer free.


Marzano also received 942 handmade cards from relay supporters, well-wishers and survivors.


During the event, received a proclamation for the Hesperia Mayor Thurston "Smitty" Smith for her hard work and support.


Marzano thanked Kohl's A-Team members who came help operate her celebration carnival, Sultana High School Band & Alumni who played on stage and her sponsor Apple Valley Feed Bin.


"The Relay for Life was truly an event that is very emotion for me," she said. "I have received cards from coast to coast and have met some pretty amazing people as I strive to share the hopeful side of cancer."
