Wherever they go, whatever they become the message to Hesperia Christian School's 46 graduates Friday night was clear: Walk with Christ.

"My prayer is that you are successful successful in the eyes of God," valedictorian Sarah Haselton told her classmates.

Haselton certainly wasn't alone during the school's 38th commencement ceremony in the Hesperia Community Church sanctuary, located next to the campus.

"Whatever your calling in life, may you find success," said salutatorian Kevin Gilson. "We must seek the Lord for the plan for our life."

The theme of the ceremony was Christ-centered throughout. After an invocation by preschool director Nancy Maerzluft and opening remarks by director of operations Sharon Romero, Pastor Ben Trahan presented the Timothian Award to Haselton. The award, which is decided by HCS seniors, goes to the student who exemplifies a Christ-like life.

Pastor Will Garcia and the HCS worship team led attendees in the worship song "Cannons."

Prior to the presentation of the class, which received bibles along with their diplomas, Pastor Dave Ley led the seniors in a prayer dedication.

"I pray that they would stand as the light of the world so others would know You," Ley said.

Pastor Casey Kendall, the associate pastor of Calvary Chapel of the High Desert, also implored the graduates to have their priorities straight.

"To be successful you must be faithful to God.... Do what God is calling you to do. Hold on to what Gold told you to do. Be strong, be courageous. I pray for you that you will walk with Christ alone."
