Hesperia store

Tux-Ego opened a Hesperia location several years because its owners, Carol and Lyndle Tharp, wanted to give residents of their hometown a chance to view and rent formal wear without having to drive crosstown.

"We live in Hesperia," Carol Tharp said. "We just figured Hesperia needed our type of store. They've supported our stores very well. We felt they were entitled to their own store."

Moreover, she said, small shops like Tux-Ego help propel Hesperia's commerce.

"I think that Hesperia needs more of the small businesses around here. The town's growing up and it needs to have its own identity. We felt it was time to come over here."

Tux-Ego stores have changed with the times. The Hesperia location has current styles and colors for formal events. If an item is not at the Hesperia store it is likely at the larger Victorville location.

"I know it's hard to break habits," Tharp said. "But you can go to our Hesperia store. There's no wait."

Besides renting formal wear, the local store has donated tuxedo rental for local events including the Mr. Sultan contest at Sultana High School. The store also donates their services to other area schools.

Admission to the expo is $6. For more information, call (760) 241-5099 or (760) 951-5099.
